Felipe Massa insists Ferrari must improve their qualifying pace – Formula 1 News
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that they must improve their qualifying pace so as to secure higher grid slots for the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix which is going to be held in Monte Carlo on May 26.
Massa said that they are quite happy with their start to this season. Even though, he said that they could not score competitive points in the fourth race at Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, they are
contented with their overall results in the season so far. He also said that they have to make improvements in their car to perform well in the qualifying in the season ahead.
“Overall, it's been a positive start,” Massa said. “In some races we did very well, while in others, Bahrain for example, we had a few problems which cost us valuable points. We have seen an all-round improvement
this year, from the car to the way team works and we have shown we are competitive, but clearly we can still improve, especially in qualifying.”
Besides, he said that competitive grid position is very important in the forthcoming race, therefore, they are hoping to perform well in the qualifying on the coming Saturday.
“I like the Monaco track a lot, partly because it's my second home race, given I live there. Grid position is much more important than at any other track and so we hope we can do well right from Saturday,” he
added.
The Brazilian driver has performed convincingly well in the season so far. He secured an incredible 4th place finish in the season opener at Albert Park in Melbourne. In the Malaysian
GP, he struggled a little bit with his race pace and could only secure 5th place finish even after qualifying for second grid position. Afterwards, in the Chinese GP, he came 6th after setting off from 5th grid
position. Although, he failed to score even single point in the Bahrain GP, he delivered an amazing performance in the Spanish GP and managed to secure third podium finish after qualifying for 9th grid slot.
Let’s see how the 32-year-old performs in this weekend’s race at Circuit de Monaco.
