Felipe Massa insists Ferrari still hopeful for 2011 championship – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has insisted that they are still hopeful for the 2011 Formula 1 title despite a poor start to the season.
Massa admitted that the Red Bull racing team has been very dominating in the season due to their driver Sebastian Vettel’s strong performance on the grid. He has lost only one race out of six rounds of the season so far. However, Massa is sure Ferrari will
not give up fighting in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Apart from Red Bull’s Vettel, he discussed the performance of his teammate Fernando Alonso. He added that Alonso seems to be improving since the last couple of races of the season.
The Brazilian appreciated Alonso’s race progress in Monaco. He said that the Spaniard would be competitive in the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix, as he led the team in the right direction at the Monte Carlo Grand Prix.
The 30-year-old driver told the media that his team is still working on their car to make it perfect for the Montreal race.
He added, “In the past, by the time you got to Canada, the shape of the championship was pretty much defined already, but now, as the calendar is so long, we cannot say anything is decided for sure yet.”
He went on to mention, “Everyone in Maranello is working flat out in their respective areas to continue improving the car so that myself and Fernando can race competitively, as we showed we could in the last couple of races, even if in terms of points, I
have gone through a bad patch. I hope that will come to an end in Canada.”
Massa is still unable to finish his race on the podium in the season so far, but he is hopeful that Ferrari will give a strong challenge to the current competitors of the season in the upcoming Montreal race.
All the teams have arrived at the main venue for the preparation of the Canadian Grand Prix. Let’s see how Ferrari manage their race for a podium finish.
