Felipe Massa keen on not repeating 2012 Indian GP performance – Formula 1 news
Felipe Massa of Ferrari is ready to do better as compared to his last year’s performance at the first edition of the Indian Grand Prix which is taking place a second time this weekend.
During the inaugural event last year, Massa had to retire from the race half way through since he kept hitting the kerb at turn 8 several times which resulted in a broken left suspension. The organizers of the Indian Grand Prix have even named the specific
part of the Buddh International Circuit as the ‘Massa kerb’.
“I didn’t have the great race here last year, but this year I am determined to do better. I hope the Massa kerb serves well for me in future,” he said.
The driver has not had a good run this season either. Since the beginning of the season, Massa has been putting up poor performances as compared to his teammate Fernando Alonso who is in the fight for the title against Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel. Massa
had been brought under a lot of speculation including the uncertainty about his position with the team. He was finally able to make a comeback in the Japanese and Korean Grands Prix after which Ferrari signed him for another year. The team believes that Massa
will not disappoint them.
“I am looking for some good results because the second part of the season is very important,” he told reporters during a promotional event.
Massa is very optimistic about giving a good performance on the Indian circuit.
He said, “I like the lay-out of this circuit. It’s a nice track to drive. It has interesting, high speed corners. I don’t think Buddh circuit is different than Korea. I did well in Korea and now want to do better here.”
The driver is very appreciative of his teammate Alonso and insists that they make a very competitive team. He thinks that they have a healthy competition between themselves and together they can earn good points for Ferrari. He is also happy about staying
with the team and says that he is determined to do well in the 2013 season.
