Felipe Massa looking to work on his problems at the Ferrari factory – Formula 1 news
Felipe Massa has admitted that his problematic start to the season has been a difficult for him.
The Brazilian said that it has “hurt” him but he has faith in his abilities and hopes that the situation turns around and he can perform with improved results.
So far in the two completed races Massa retired in the first one arguably to his own driving mistake and struggled in the Malaysian GP as he finished 15th.
Although critics have lashed out at the Brazilian for his poor performances, Ferrari has maintained that they are going to back their driver in this difficult period.
Massa has taken his dip in form seriously as well as the Brazilian went straight to the Ferrari factory after the Malaysian Grand Prix to look into a detailed analysis of the first two races of the season.
“I am disappointed, there is no denying it: not scoring any points in two races hurts, but now it's time to turn the page,” he said. “It's the not the first time I've gone through a difficult moment like this and I know well that things can change quickly,
but now is the moment to do my utmost because I want this negative period to come to an end. I want things to return to normal, to a situation in which I can show my talent as I have always done and as the team knows I can do.”
Massa has praised the support his team has given him and spoken in public about their support for him.
He said that he was happy to read and hear President Luca di Montezemolo and Stefano Domenicali talking in support of him. Massa added that he is not surprised to hear those words from the management because of the strong culture within Ferrari.
Massa will be spending the weekend at Monaco in his apartment before he returns to Maranello next week for his engineering meetings and to spend some time in the simulator.
The Brazilian will need to improve his performances in the future to secure his race seat which is slipping away with each passing poor race. It will be interesting to see how he fares in the season.
