Felipe Massa not worried about his future despite no talks yet with Ferrari about 2013 season
Ferrari’s Felipe Massa has recently stated that he is not worried about his future with the team despite the fact that the team has not begun talks regarding a contract extension for him.
“We have not talked as there is still a season and a half in front. What I have to do now is concentrate and try to do a better job,” he said.
Massa is currently on a contract with Ferrari which is expected to expire at the end of 2012. The team has not talked about a possible deal with him for 2013 or further as a result of which it was believed that the Brazilian driver might get a bit worried
since Ferrari are one of the top teams of the sport.
Other than that, there is a lot of speculation that he might even lose his race seat with the team in 2012 as there are rumours that the team is linked with Lewis Hamilton and even the current champion Sebastian Vettel for a possible 2012 deal.
“Did you not follow my first year at Ferrari? It was always like this, so nothing has changed, but it doesn't worry me,” Massa told the media.
Ferrari’s principal Stefano Domenicali has also stated that the team wants good constructors’ results as well and by the looks of it, Massa is the main reason why the team is not performing so well as a whole in terms of statistics.
Fernando Alonso on the other hand is scoring magnificent results for the team and he is very consistent. He is one of the top contenders for the drivers’ title this year and even in 2010 during his debut season with Ferrari, he led the championship until
the very last race of the season but lost his lead to Vettel in the end.
Ferrari on the other hand were way behind in the constructors’ standings and even this year, they are nowhere near McLaren or Red Bull in terms of points.
