Felipe Massa of Ferrari looking for reversal of fortune in ongoing 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Ferrari’s Felipe Massa is still hopeful that he can still fetch a better place for himself at the end of the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season.
Massa said, “It's true I've not had much luck this season, with punctures, or someone hitting me, or other things happening and I hope that the situation changes for the last five races.”
In the recently held 2011 Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay circuit, the Ferrari driver was only able to secure a ninth position for himself after starting 8th at the grid.
The race was pretty frustrating for Massa as he was caught up in an accident with Lewis Hamilton during the race. Later on, a lot of hype was created related to this issue with the release of his conversation with engineer Rob Smedley. Massa has however
downplayed all the controversies and stated that he will not be taking up this issue with Hamilton any further and rather wants to put an end to it.
He focused on improving his race strategy for the upcoming races.
Ferrari chief Designer Nicholas Tombazis who does not seem very optimistic about ending this season any higher than their current third place, has set his prime focus on the 2012 car design.
The 30-year-old Brazilian currently sits on the sixth position on the drivers’ championship standings with 84 points from the 14 races he participated in. With 5 races still to go, the Brazilian is still hoping that his luck might work.
Massa finished second in a Ferrari car at Suzuka back in 2006 when his current teammate Fernando Alonso won the race at this circuit though not with the same outfit.
The next race is scheduled to take place in Japan. The race starts this weekend, October 7-9, 2011 at the famous Suzuka circuit.
Let’s see how Massa performs during the race and where on the constructors’ standings does the Italian squad ends up after the race.
