Felipe Massa pays no attention to his replacement speculation ahead of Malaysian GP – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has paid no attention to the speculation in an Italian press concerning his replacement in the team ahead of 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix, to be held at Sepang International Circuit this weekend.
The Brazilian driver showed quite a poor performance in the season opener at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia which proved out to be very disappointing for the team after facing difficulties all along during the pre-season tests held at Jerez and Barcelona
circuits.
Nevertheless, the Spaniard, Fernando Alonso with his reasonably admirable performance at the first race, held the hopes of the Scarlet team intact as he secured the fifth position after staring 12th in the grid and followed Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing.
Although, there have been many rumours spreading around regarding the exit of Massa and who will take his seat in Ferrari, from many Italian publications while one of them even organized a poll amongst the readers to observe the potential drivers for his
replacement.
However, Massa ignored all the speculations and expressed that he had never taken any pressure from the outside while he said that his focus was only on learning from his mistakes in the first race and correcting them in the season ahead.
“To be honest, I really don't care,” Massa said. “I never drove depending on what others think or say about me. I just do my job thinking about trying to do the best I can in the car. When I arrived here in 2008, people were saying I was out of Ferrari,
because I did not finish in Australia and then I did not finish here and it went on to become my best season. Things can change very quickly from one day to the next. The only thing I care about is to have the car I know from winter testing.”
Besides, Massa will be at Sepang with new chassis as the Red team targets to clear up any kind of doubts over his performance at the first GP. In addition, he expected that the car would perform better in the second race.
