Felipe Massa reasonably satisfied with his Ferrari after practice sessions of German GP – Formula 1
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that he is reasonably satisfied with his car since both of the team drivers finished in the top four in the timesheets of the second free practice session of the 2011 Formula 1 German Grand Prix.
The fastest time of the session was scored by Red Bull Racing team’s Mark Webber while Fernando Alonso was just around a tenth short of his lap time. Felipe Massa on the other hand secured the fourth fastest time of the session which was quite impressive
for the team.
This is a good start for Ferrari for the German Grand Prix and now they are hoping of defeating Red Bull Racing for the first time in a qualifying in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
“It was a good day. We had so much work to get through and we managed to do it in both sessions, without having any problems. I would say we can be reasonably satisfied with our level of competitiveness, even if it's too soon to say if we can fight for something
important,” said Massa.
After Friday’s performance, it has been proved once again that Ferrari have the ability to compete for the victory this weekend alongside RBR while McLaren are struggling to perform up to the mark.
Fernando Alonso secured the first race win of the season for Ferrari at the British Grand Prix after which the team is now satisfied and confident with its current pace.
“The pace over a long run is not bad on both types of tyre: there is quite some difference between the Prime and the Option and we will need to keep that in mind when coming up with our race strategy. It's a bit of a struggle to do a time immediately on
the first lap, even with the Soft, but I think it's the same problem for everyone,” said the Brazilian.
Massa claims that he is going to help his team secure its goals for the weekend but the only problem the team has been facing this Friday is regarding the tyres as they have been unable to generate some temperature into them.
