Felipe Massa says Ferrari can maintain Silverstone form in Nurburgring – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that his team can retain their Silverstone race form in the upcoming German Grand Prix, which will begin from Friday, July 22, 2011 in Nürburgring.
Massa admitted that the Silverstone racetrack was the first track where the team successfully managed their run on the hard tyres for the first time in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The Brazilian mentioned that the new upgrades, which had been delivered in their new car for the British Grand Prix gave them satisfactory results. After a positive race weekend in Silverstone, the Maranello-based outfit introduced a small update in their
car. However, they are hopeful the new parts will again support both of the drivers to finish their good run on the grid this weekend.
Talking to reporters, Massa said, “Two years ago, the last time we were here at the Nurburgring I finished third. In fact I have had many podiums with Ferrari at the German Grand Prix and I like this track, so even if the win is what we are always aiming
for, another podium would be a good result on Sunday.”
He went on to mention, “I think a podium in the German Grand Prix, racing for Ferrari - I hope we can continue like that. It's a track I like, and I hope we can see a very good competitive fight here like we saw at Silverstone.”
The 30-year-old driver further said that he is hopeful they can create an atmosphere like they had in Silverstone. He said he is very excited to race on the German track, as it is one of his favourite race circuits.
The team driver had a successful race weekend in Silverstone, where he positively finished his Free Practice session and qualifying rounds on the grid among the strong contenders.
He started his race from the fourth place on the grid and ended up in the fifth spot for the team. Massa was 29 seconds slower than his teammate Fernando Alonso, who was the winner of the British Grand Prix.
After finishing his race at the fifth place in the previous race, Massa is hoping for a podium finish in the German Grand Prix this weekend. Let’s see how he manages it.
