Felipe Massa says he has no intentions to talk about Lewis Hamilton at Suzuka – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that he does not have any plans of discussing McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton’s driving antics with the International Automobile Federation (FIA) in Suzuka, Japan.
Recently, there were rumours that all the Formula 1 drivers will gather up before the start of the Japanese Grand Prix to discuss Lewis Hamilton’s driving style. However, it was later clarified that they were not only going to discuss Hamilton’s driving
style and will talk about other issues as well.
The Brazilian has no plans to take up this issue with FIA Director Charlie Whiting anymore as he believes that Hamilton was given a drive-through penalty at the Singapore Grand Prix which should be a lesson enough for him.
He told Autosport.com, “I have nothing to say because everything he does, he pays for.”
“We went on to explain that whenever a driver causes an accident on the track, and is proven guilty for it, you get a drive-through penalty. It's time enough for him to learn, to be honest,” he added.
Felipe Massa recently caught himself in a media hype following his accident with the 24-year-old Brit during the Singapore Grand Prix after which a video edit was released featuring his conversation with Rob Smedley.
Massa with the intent to clear up the matter and to avoid any further misunderstanding said that Smedley’s words have been misinterpreted and maybe he just used the wrong set of words in a state of frenzy. His underlying intent however was not at all meant
to destroy or ruin Hamilton’s race, Massa said.
He further added that the sequence of both the events, i.e. Smedley sending him instructions and the collision occurring just a lap later created doubts. Massa has however, clearly said that he does not hold any grudge or malice against the Brit, and it
was not his intention to ruin his race.
The teams meet at Suzuka this weekend, October 7-9, 2011. Let’s see what transpires at the legendary circuit.
