Felipe Massa says he is happy with his Silverstone Grand Prix showing – Formula 1 news
Felipe Massa said that he is very happy to bring home some vital points for the team.
Massa had a troublesome season up until the Valencia GP where he improved his driving quite a bit. The Brazilian hoped that the race at Valencia will give him the confidence to come up with better results in the future.
The European Grand Prix did exactly that for Massa who drove with confidence and aggression to come up with some vital points for his team. He finished fourth in the race while his team-mate Fernando Alonso finished at second place.
Ferrari has Alonso topping the drivers’ championship at the moment and the team is looking to challenge Red Bull for the Constructors’ title for the current season and Massa delivering the goods will definitely help the cause.
Massa was happy at his performance and said that he has been in good for some time now, and Montreal and Valencia are good examples of that and that means that the result at the British GP was not a fluke.
He said that he is hoping for a race contract next year because of his performances, adding that if he can keep up the good work and keep on performing like this there is no reason why he should not get a contract.
“It was a good race and I am glad to have finally brought home a good result for me and for the team. Race after race, the situation has been improving and now we are capable of fighting for the podium,” he said.
“I concentrated mainly on defending my position against Kimi who was coming back at me very quickly: maybe if there had been a few more laps, he would have managed to get by. We must continue to push, as we have done over these past few months and then,
I'm sure the results will come. Is it enough to confirm my place at Ferrari? I don't see any reason why that could not happen if, as I said, the results come,” he added.
It will be interesting to see how Massa fares in the coming races.
