Felipe Massa says he is not affected by Ferrari and Mark Webber race seat talks – Formula 1 news
Felipe Massa has said that he is not concerned by the fact that Ferrari were in talks with Red Bull driver Mark Webber to replace the Brazilian for the 2013 season.
Mark Webber has decided to extend his contract with Red Bull for 2013 but it leaves Massa in an awkward situation. He now knows that his team was looking to replace him with the Aussie driver and may still be looking for another driver to do the job that
Webber has left.
Massa however has said that he does not have any affects from the whole scenario.
“No, definitely not,” Massa said when asked if Webber's comments were unsettling. “I'm sure not just Mark, but many drivers talk to Ferrari. I'm sure more than 50 drivers call Ferrari. It is a big team, and most of the drivers would love to drive for Ferrari.
So nothing is a problem for me.”
“The only thing that is a problem for me is to think about my results. That is the only thing I care about, not talks. Talks don't do anything for me. The result is what is really important,” he added.
Massa has been in poor form in the current season as the Brazilian struggled to show the results that he is capable of. Recent races though have been much better where he has been able to score some vital points for his team. The British GP was particularly
good for Massa as he finished fourth in the race.
He now believes that if he can keep up performing like he did at Silverstone, there is no reason why he should not have a shot at another year with Ferrari.
He said that this time always comes in a driver’s career where it is the last year of his contract and he has to think forward about the next year, but that is part of the job and he is not deterred by the situation rather more motivated to do the best job
that he can do in the current season to secure his race seat with Ferrari for the coming season.
