Felipe Massa says results of Japan Grand Prix were better than expected – Formula 1 news
Felipe Massa of Ferrari managed to finish the Japanese Grand Prix at the 2nd position on the Suzuka circuit.
He believes that his achievement was superior to his expectations.
He told that his achievement at the race was better than he had expected and they did a good job over the circuit. He believes that the incident of his teammate Fernando Alonso was unfortunate because due to the accident he was unable to finish the Japan
GP. The Ferrari driver remains happy with his achievement at the Japanese circuit.
Massa said, “For sure the race was much better than what I expected and we did a good job. Unfortunately Fernando [Alonso] is not here fighting for the championship as well, but I'm very happy with my race and let's keep pushing hard to be on the podium
more than every two years - every race now.”
The Brazilian driver believes that his podium at the Japanese GP will be important in the decision of Ferrari related to hiring a competitive driver for the next season and it will add to his confidence over the circuit and in future races.
Additionally, he said that he was able to make an impressive start although he was careful after the unfortunate crash in the beginning of the race. He told that he was quicker than Jenson Button of McLaren. They had saved 0.5 seconds when he took a pit
and later he was quicker than Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber and thus was able to make it to the 2nd position.
“Then the pace was very good from the car. Since the beginning of the race the pace was really good and when I was behind Jenson I was quicker than him,” he added.
The position of the Brazilian driver has been questioned by the team as they want a driver who is competitive on the circuit so they may be able to win the Constructors’ championship. The Brazilian driver wants to perform impressively in the remaining races
and believes that his 2nd position after almost 2 year will add to his confidence.
Let’s see how he performs in the remaining five races of the current 2012 season.
