Felipe Massa says wet conditions hampered information gathering in Silverstone – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that the rainy conditions didn’t allow them to gather the necessary information about the updates in F2012 during Friday practice of 2012 British Grand Prix.
Massa covered only 7 laps and came 15th in the timesheets of FP2. Although, he targeted to collect some valuable data during the practice session to evaluate the upgraded car, however, he expressed that he could not gather the desired information
because the track remained wet throughout the morning and afternoon.
Nevertheless, he said that they are positively looking forward to optimise the opportunities in the third session in order to make the essential assessment of their updates to make the considerable advancements for the forthcoming race.
“The weather made this a difficult day,” Massa said. “It rained all the time and upset our workload therefore we decided therefore to do only little running to save tyres for tomorrow and Sunday. Obviously this meant we were not able to test the way we wanted,
especially when it came to small updates we brought to this GP. I did only three timed laps, so it's impossible to say anything about how the F2012 is behaving on this track. Tomorrow, we will try and do more laps to be as well prepared as possible for qualifying
and race.”
Even though, it has been forecasted earlier that there are chances of rain throughout the week but almost all the contenders seemed struggling with their running. Nonetheless, the Brazilian driver said that driving in the rainy conditions will definitely
help in making some sound preparations for the race ahead as the climate is expected to be the same for the next few days.
At present, he is standing at 16th place in the drivers’ championship with 11 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne of Toro Rosso and behind Bruno Senna of Williams.
Even though, he has only scored 1 point in the last two races, nevertheless, he is focussing to deliver his best in the approaching races.
Above and beyond, it will be interesting to see how the Scarlet team come up in the third practice session and the qualifying.
