Felipe Massa shows his disappointment at Canadian Grand Prix result – Formula 1 news
Felipe Massa says he is angry with himself for making a mistake at turn one of the race.
Massa had a good start to his race but had a close brush with Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg at turn one. According to the Brazilian, he lost touch with the quickest group of the race and at that point.
He could have gained back the gap but his tyres started to vibrate which led him to an early pit stop which further widened the gap. Massa like his teammate Fernando Alonso planned to go with a one stop strategy but the early tyre change meant that his tyre
degraded much earlier than expected and he had to take another pit stop.
Massa looked really good during the race at Montreal as he fought hard to maintain his position constantly challenging Nico Rosberg and Mark Webber. Massa was successful to overtake both the drivers but his car spun during the race and he dropped back to
14th place.
It was still an admirable effort to move into the top ten from there, considering the Brazilian has been under tremendous pressure to come up with the improved results. The season has not been the most kind to the Brazilian who earlier in the season struggled
because of a complex car.
Massa had a good weekend overall as he finished sixth in the qualifiers, it shows that he is feeling more comfortable with the car and can improve in the coming races.
Massa explained that even though it was a good race for him he is still a bit disappointed. “I am disappointed, because we showed we were competitive with our main rivals: now we are there, fighting with them, which was not the case just a few races ago.
Tenth place definitely does not reflect our potential. Now it is vital we continue to work in this direction: it was a weekend in which we were always fighting for the top places and we have improved in every area and that has to be a confidence boost for
the rest of the season.”
