Felipe Massa struggles with his F2012 during Friday practice at Marina Bay – Formula 1 news
Felipe Massa of Ferrari is unsatisfied with the performance of his car after the first two free practice sessions of Singaporean Grand Prix.
His team has spotted a problem with his car but the Ferrari driver believes that it will not cater to all of his problems.
The Brazilian driver told that he struggled through the first two practice sessions at the Marina Bay Street Circuit as he faced tyre degradation however they were able to identify a problem but he believes that it will not resolve all of his problems.
Massa said, “It wasn't an easy day for me. The car wasn't right all day and I also suffered particularly badly with tyre degradation in both sessions. At the end of the second session, we found something that wasn't working properly, but that doesn't explain
all my problems.”
Furthermore, he told that in order to perform convincingly, over the Singaporean circuit, it is necessary to identify the problem and devise solution to it. He told that they have clear ideas which area they should work on and they believe that there is
a lot of work to complete before the race day.
“We must find out what happened so we can fix it for the rest of the weekend. We have reasonably clear ideas about the direction to go in when it comes to set-up: one thing's certain, there's a lot of work to do,” he added.  
He finished his fastest lap in the FP2 of Singapore GP with a gap of 1 minute and 50.039 seconds from the leader, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing, attaining 9th position. In FP1 he could only make it to the 16th position. In the Italian Grand Prix he
finished the race at 4th position starting from the 3rd grid.
Massa has not yet been contacted by the Ferrari team for his next 2013 contract. They have said that he needs to perform in order to stay in the team, as they need both competitive drivers. He has only been able to attain 47 championship points, until now,
and stands on the 10th position.
