Felipe Massa thinks Mark Webber deserved penalty – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing deserved a penalty for his odd driving style in the 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Webber went off the track when was looking forward to overtake Massa at turn 11. Later, he rejoined the Brazilian driver, causing his car to twist. Resultantly, the Ferrari driver had to push the brakes to avoid any kind of unpleasant incident and asserted
that the Australian driver should have been penalised for his action.
"We were braking for turn 11, he tried to pass me on outside and I was on the corner on inside," he said. "We touched wheels on the apex of the corner and he decided to go straight at the chicane and cut the chicane. I was doing chicane and then he passed
in front of me and I had to brake very hard not to hit his car and I spun. So he caused an incident, but it's not first time we've seen stewards not making right decisions and they decided not to give anything. For me it was completely wrong."
In addition, he said that he struggled with his soft tyre pace and faced issue in the balancing of his car. Furthermore, he expressed that he was encountered with high degradation problem which hindered his performance at Yas Marina Circuit.
Nevertheless, he still managed to secure 7th place finish in the race and was contended with his result as he was able to score reasonable points for his team.
It will be interesting to mention that he had been surrounded by many speculations that he may be replaced with another driver in the next season because of his poor form in the opening few races. Nevertheless, he has secured his next year’s race seat in
the Scarlet team and has discharged all the rumours. Besides, he said that he is aiming to attain competitive results for his team in the future.
At present, he is standing at 7th place in the drivers’ championship and is ahead of his main rival, Nico Rosberg of Mercedes. Let’s see how he shows up in the last two races.
