Felipe Massa thinks he can stay at Ferrari in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that he still sees the possibility of securing a new deal with his team for the next season.
Massa has been completely outclassed by his teammate, Fernando Alonso who is presently leading this year’s drivers’ championship and has scored 164 points in the season so far. Although, Alonso could not pocket even a single point in the Belgian Grand Prix
as the accident caused by Romain Grosjean of Lotus at turn one of the opening lap gave him away. Nevertheless, he still has a competitive lead over his main rival, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
Contrarily, the Brazilian driver has faced immense problems in executing his true potential and has only been able to score 35 points in the season until now. Moreover, there are many speculations that the Scarlet team is looking forward for his replacement
for the coming season. Additionally, the reports stated that Sergio Perez of Sauber has been considered as a potential alternative of Massa for the next year.
Nonetheless, he has performed convincingly well in the last few races and is very hopeful about his race seat with the Italian team in the next season.
"I didn't sign anything for next year yet, but I think we have the possibility to sign," Massa said. "Let's wait and see, I don't know when, but I just need to concentrate on the results, on the race and I think that's the main important thing for my future
as well."
Besides, he said that he is targeting to perform at his best in the remaining eight grand prix of the season and is aiming to score reasonable points in each race ahead so as to make his mark stronger in the championship battle.
"But I need to just concentrate on my job which is driving car, driving quickest speed I can. I'm frustrated with my qualifying, not with my races, and I'm sure by improving my qualifying a bit I can be very strong in the races and change the results completely,"
he added.
Let’s see whether he will be able to race with Ferrari in the upcoming year or not.
