Felipe Massa thinks he needs to improve his consistency – Formula 1 News
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that he needs to improve his consistency to secure good results in the season ahead, but insisted he is not under any pressure at his team because of his poor performance in the recent races.
Massa faced a lot of difficulties during the start of 2012 and failed to score competitive points for his team. Nonetheless, he performed impressively well during the last few races and managed to secure his race seat for this season.
Although, the Brazilian driver took a strong start to this season, he has only been able to score 12 points in the last four races. Furthermore, he is surrounded by immense speculations that he may get replaced by any other driver at the end of this season. Nevertheless, he has expressed that he is not feeling upset over the uncertainty about his future in the Scarlet team and is positively looking forward to perform well in the season ahead.
After his run in the Young Driver Test at Silverstone circuit, he said that they need to keep on making the necessary developments in order to enhance their pace for the forthcoming races.
“I know what I have to do, I just concentrate on doing a good result,” Massa said. “The pace is there so I'm not worried about the pace; I showed in most of the races to be honest the pace. Things have happened not to finish race and we need to concentrate and try to keep pace and just finish race. I know if nothing strange happens I will finish in a good position.”
Besides, he asserted that he must improve his consistency so as to score good points in every race to make his mark stronger in this year’s championship.
“Also I was not very lucky [at Silverstone] in the race with the tyres, in Bahrain with the tyres, and also myself just trying to finish the race in a consistent way,” he added.
It will be interesting to see how he performs in the approaching races and whether he will be able to secure his race seat at Maranello based squad or not.
