Felipe Massa wants to carry on his form in the season ahead – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa secured an incredible fifth place finish in the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix and is aiming to carry on his competitive form in the season ahead.
Massa had been facing immense problems in exploring his true pace in the first half of the season in which he could only score 25 points. Nevertheless, he came back really well after the mid-season break and showed an inspiring pace in the last race held
at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in which he came fifth after taking a start from 11th grid position.
Moreover, he said that he is very much contended with his performance in the Belgian GP. He also said that it was very difficult for him to make his way through the crash happened at the turn one of the first lap by the mistake of Romain Grosjean of Lotus,
which caused his teammate, Fernando Alonso’s retirement.
“It was a nice race and fifth place is great result, if you think of where I started,” Massa said. “At the start, I managed to pass both Red Bulls, but then I had to move right over to left side to avoid tangle of cars that included Fernando and I lost almost
all ground I had made up in opening metres.”
Besides, the Brazilian driver said that he was doing well in the preceding race and was confident that he could secure a podium finish but eventually he realised that the competition was very tight and ended at fifth place.
“I was gaining many positions, fighting with these guys, overtaking cars and I think if I had done little bit better in the first corner with the accident maybe it would have been possible to finish on podium today,” he added.
Nonetheless, he said that he is not feeling any kind of disappointment and is hoping to deliver his best in the Italian GP. Over and above, he said that he has complete faith in his team which has supported him in all kinds of circumstances.
Let’s see how the Scarlet team shows up in the remaining eight grands prix of the current season.
