Felipe Massa will hopefully perform better in 2013 – Formula 1
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has secured his race seat for 2013 in his team and will definitely try his best to perform well in the next season so as to prove his potential in the sport.
Massa has struggled a lot in the opening few races of the season and failed to attain good results for his team. On the other hand, his teammate, Fernando Alonso performed incredibly well even with an uncompetitive car and efficiently restricted the damage
for the team.
Moreover, he had been surrounded by immense criticism over his poor form and there were many speculations that the Scarlet team might replace him with another driver in the next year.
However, the team principal, Stefano Domenicali kept on dismissing all the rumours and said that they are always ready to support their driver in tough conditions.
Furthermore, it will be important to mention that earlier this season, Sergio Perez, who is presently in Sauber and has secured a multi-year deal with McLaren where he will replace Lewis Hamilton from the next season onwards, had been deemed as a potential
replacement of the Brazilian driver in the Italian team.
Contrarily, Ferrari president, Luca di Montezemolo said that although they admire the talent of the Mexican driver, but insisted that he is too young and needs more experience to secure a race seat in their team.
Even though, Massa faced huge difficulties in the first few grands prix, but he found his pace back and delivered some admirable performances in the races afterwards. In addition, he has successfully extended his contract with Ferrari for the next year and
is positively looking forward to achieve more for his team.
He expressed that he is extremely happy with his contract extension and praised the support from his family and team members. He also said that he is extremely grateful to Montezemolo and Domenicali for their trust and confidence.
Besides, he said that he is immensely thankful to his fans. He added that he will try to deliver his best in the coming year in order to attain better results for his team.
“I am delighted with this agreement,” Massa said. “Ferrari is my sports family and I have always raced in Formula One driving engines built at Maranello: I can't see myself behind the wheel of a car driven by any other units! First I want to thank the President
Montezemolo and Stefano Domenicali, who gave me confidence and I have always maintained belief, even in the most difficult moments. Both the team and the fans can be assured that I will do all that is in my power to help the Scuderia to achieve the goals that
arise every year.”
It is to be noted that Ferrari had a struggling pre-season testing programme this year and they struggled with their car’s design in the start, but they made some significant developments in the Mugello test and seemed quite strong in the last few races.
Even though, they could not match the pace of their rival, Red Bull Racing, nonetheless, they are hoping to come up stronger in the next season.
It will be exciting to see how the 31-year-old performs in the final round of the ongoing season and whether he will be able to come up to the expectations of his team in the next year or not.
