Felix Hernandez agrees to seven-year deal with Seattle Mariners – MLB News
Starting pitcher Felix Hernandez has agreed to a seven-year deal with the Seattle Mariners worth approximately $135.5 million.
Hernandez a seven year Major League veteran played a key role in the Mariners last season’s outing. He remained consistent on the mound and showed persistent numbers of 3.06 ERA along with 13-9 win, 223 strikeouts and 1.14 WHIP.
“Let’s be realistic, When we get to where we want to go — and we hope we’re on our way — we’re going to have to have a staff ace. Felix is that. Any club that’s a good club, what are they looking for? A top-of-the-rotation guy. Well, guess what? We have one,” Mariners General Manager Jack Zduriencik said.
He added with more confidence and told the reporters in detail, “I know he likes it here, and he looks around and sees a bunch of young kids and a minor league system that’s pretty good. He can see the vision, and he knows he’s going to be a part of this thing.”
Experts say that it is a very good sign as Mariners and Hernandez agreed to a mutual understanding. Now the Mariners have a very good chance to come-up with more offensive plays next season.
Meanwhile, the Seattle Mariners entire starting rotation is feeling much confident and hoping a good Major League season. Currently they have three to four starters who will provide them some serious offence next season.
At present, the Seattle Mariners have Kevin Millwood along with Hector Noesi and Blake Beavan who could prove essential for their dire offence.
Millwood played tremendously in the last season and went with 4.25 ERA along with 6-12 win loss, 107 strikeouts and 1.39 WHIP. He also possesses good and career ERA of 4.11 along with 169-152 win-loss, 2083 strikeouts and 1.33 WHIP.
Hector Noesi also played well in 2012 Major League Baseball season and achieved 5.82 ERA along with 2-12 win loss, 68 strikeouts and 1.42 WHIP. Not only in the last season, but Noesi is also carrying a healthy career ERA of 5.36 along with 4-14 win loss, 113 strikeouts and 1.42 WHIP.
