The VfL Wolfsburg manager has admitted defeat in qualifying for the UEFA Europa League this season after recent disappointments in the league.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 were leading the race to land a spot for the UEFA Europa League at the start of this month but a series of disappointing results in the last few matches have heavily dented their chances of qualification.
Felix Magath’s side have suffered three consecutive defeats against the likes of Borussia Dortmund, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 last month. The losses have left them in 10th
place currently with 40 points thus far this season.
Magath claimed that qualifying for Europe is always a plus point for the team as it certainly helps in the summer transfer window. The manager insisted that there is still a slim chance of achieving the feat but for that the team
will have to win in their last three games.
The tactician admitted that it will be a very difficult task and the team has blown away a great chance to qualify for the secondary European competition. He rued missed chances against FC Augsburg in the last league fixture and
expressed his frustration on the result.
“That always has an influence on the summer, which is why it is important that we show good performances in our remaining games, regardless of Europe. We still have the chance of qualifying for Europe with three games to go, but
realistically, that has become more difficult after the defeat against Augsburg,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the manager also revealed that the club will have a busy summer transfer window at the end of the season. He added that Wolfsburg want to become one of the most successful teams in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 and is looking forward
to the remaining games of the campaign.
“Our aim is to build a side which can consistently be one of the best in Germany. We have taken one step forwards and the next will have to follow next season,” he concluded.
