The Wolfsburg manager expressed his frustration on the disappointing 4-0 loss at the hands of Schalke in the Bundesliga.
The Wolves’ recent run of impressive form was ended by Schalke this past weekend. Before the clash at Veltins-Arena, Magath’s side had only lost one time this year which was against Bayern Munich. The home side thrashed Wolfsburg
4-0 as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Gonzalez scored the goals.
Magath claimed that this is not the way a top club plays and admitted that the display was very disappointing. He stated that the team has performed well in the home games recently but the players also have to step up in the fixtures
away from home.
The former Schalke boss stressed that Wolfsburg have performed well this year but the display against Die Knappen looked like a team from the first-half of the season.
“The team is not allowed to play like this. We stopped playing at 0-1 and that is not on. We have had almost exclusively home games so far in 2012 and we had been playing well. We had all hoped that the second half of the season
was going to be completely different, but today we were the same as before,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The tactician questioned the ability of the senior players and admitted that they have to step up in the remaining course of the season with their performances. He added that the team has to show consistency in the away games if
they want to finish in the top half of the standings table.
“The problem is, we have behaved just like we did during the first half of the season and that begs the question what kind of a role the established players here play,” he concluded.
