The VfL Wolfsburg manager has received support from the club chairman after his side’s thrilling win over Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 registered a much needed win over Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend which rekindled their chances of achieving a European berth. Die Wolfe played hosts to Werkself on Saturday, March 10, at the Volkswagen Arena with
the hosts winning by a 3-2 margin. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashkan-Dejagah-c6806 netted for the winners apart from Michal Kadlec’s own goal.
Die Wolfe chairman, Martin Winterkorn, has expressed his pleasure at Wolfsburg’s thrilling win and is looking forward for a place in Europe next season. He congratulated Magath on achieving all three points and backed him to lead
the club into next year’s UEFA Europa League.
Winterkorn mentioned that the Leverkusen win was vital and insisted that Magath has full backing of his players and the fans. While talking to a local sports publication, the Chairman further added:
"Had we lost, then it would have become difficult for us. It was a decisive game. We have faith in our coach. He is a good coach. We have got to thank our fans for their fantastic support, which kept us in the game."
On the other hand, club manager Robin Dutt lamented his team’s loss to Wolfsburg. He opined that if his players had not squandered a number of opportunities in the opening half hour, the outcome would have been different.
Dutt stated that Leverkusen still managed to put up a decent fight despite injury problems and the midweek loss to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in the UEFA Champions League. Werkself went down 7-1 at the Camp Nou which marked their exit from Europe
10-2 on aggregate.
"We could have been 3-0 up after 15 minutes and then the game would have been over. Then we have five men injured, many changes and too much disorganisation and no more stability. My priority right now is not to look at the league
table but to ensure we have a competitive troop next week," Dutt concluded.
Leverkusen are currently fifth in the Bundesliga with 40 points while Wolfsburg are 10th with 31 points. Werkself will next be in action against Borussia Monchengladbach whereas Die Wolfe will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FC-Nuremberg-c38162 on
Saturday, March 17.
