The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 manager has received the support of club chairman Dr. Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz on his transfer spree this January.
Wolfsburg continue to strengthen their squad for the second-half of the season, and Felix Magath has the backing of the club’s chairman following the record nine transfers made during January. Magath’s new signings have increased
the number of players in the squad to 39 justifying his trader’s reputation in the transfer market.
Die Wolfe have failed to impress during the first-half of the season, winning only six games and losing nine of the 17 played so far. As a result, Magath felt the need to strengthen his squad in order to achieve notable results
once the season restarts.
Many believed that the manager has the free hand to invest money; an allegation which has been declined by Dr Sanz.
The chairman stated that all the dealings take place with his consultation, and it was a mutual decision to add more players into the squad. The chief added that he and Magath discuss everything in detail whether it is regarding
transfers or the analysis.
While talking to the club’s own magazine, Unter Wolfen, Sanz further elaborated:
"Every transfer Wolfsburg makes is discussed in depth between Mr Magath and myself. Thankfully, he does not do anything alone, not even the analysis of the first half of the season which we did together intensively, and very early
on.”
Sanz mentioned that Magath has inducted the right group of players into the squad, and praised him for thinking far ahead. He expressed confidence in Magath’s plans for the future, and is satisfied with the manner in which he has
spent the money during the ongoing winter transfer window.
"Felix Magath has signed young players for reasonable fees. To claim that Magath is just throwing away the money of Volkswagen (Wolfsburg's largest financial backer) is unfounded and is unfair. The club receives a budget from the
company (VW) and it must move within this framework," he concluded.
The 2008/09 Bundesliga champions are currently sitting 12th on the league table, 17 points behind leaders, Bayern Munich. Magath’s army will next be in action against FC Koln on Saturday, January 21, at the Volkswagen
Arena.
