The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 tactician has expressed his desire to continue serving Die Wolfe for a lengthy period.
Felix Magath has revealed that he wants to continue serving as manager at the Volkswagen Arena beyond his original deal. Magath’s contract will expire by the end of next season but the boss feels comfortable with his role at the
club and therefore desires to prolong his stay.
The tactician led Wolfsburg to the Bundesliga crown in 2009 but then left for Schalke. Magath did not have a successful campaign with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues and returned to the Volkswagen Arena in 2011 after spending two years at the
Veltins-Arena.
While talking to a local news publication, the 58-year-old further added: "I want to work long-term at Wolfsburg. This is the agreement I have with the directors of the club. This makes me believe I am to serve as manager at Wolfsburg
until June 2013. And even beyond that then."
On the other hand, the manager also denied reports of Mario Mandzukic and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrick-c29254 Helmes’ departure at the end of this campaign. He mused that the duo have done extremely well this season and Wolfsburg definitely have no plans
to part ways with the attackers.
"This is not true. Both players are on contracts that are to last beyond the end of the season. From this point of view both players are to stay with us. We do not have the ambition to part company with these players. We are not
going to make any big changes to the first-team squad," Magath concluded.
Mandzukic signed for Die Wolfe in 2010 and so far has amassed 19 league goals from 50 appearances including 11 this term. Helmes, on the other hand, came to the Volkswagen Arena last year and already has nine goals to his name
from 19 appearances so far. Eight of those goals have come this season.
Wolfsburg are currently 10th in the league standings with 40 points and four points behind the last European spot. With four games remaining in the competition, Magath would try to achieve at least a UEFA Europa League
berth.
