Felix Sanchez to encounter Bershawn Jackson and Dai Greene at the Aviva Birmingham Grand Prix
As the Aviva Birmingham Grand Prix approaches, spectators look forward to see track and field athlete from New York City, Felix Sanchez, encountering the formidable duo of Bershawn Jackson and Dai Greene, who is a specialist in 400m hurdles.
The Aviva Birmingham Grand Prix is regarded as a part of the Samsung Diamond League and is scheduled to commence on Sunday, July 10.
The 33-year old New Yorker, Sanchez, who is primarily a 400m hurdler, first emerged as an Olympic gold medallist at the 2004 Summer Olympics while representing Dominican Republic. Although Sanchez was born in the US, his parents belonged to the Dominican
Republic and he too opted for representing the country in the world athletics arena since he started his career in 1999.
While speaking about the meet, Sanchez, who looks determined to bag the upcoming event said, “I absolutely loved competing in Birmingham earlier in the year and I can’t wait to do it again. It was such a special atmosphere in the NIA and I’m sure it will
be the same at the Birmingham Alexander Stadium.”
Remembering the last time he appeared on the track, Sanchez added that it was a great experience when everyone showed a good gesture to him and thus, it was a pleasure going back on the field and meeting some lovely people again.
Talking about the most expected rival he was looking forward to compete against, the formidable athlete, who had been named as the Track and Field News’ Track & Field Athlete in 2003, said, “I’m also really looking forward to be racing against Dai. I’ve
been watching his races closely and I’ve been really impressed with the way he’s running so it’s going to be a big challenge.”
Sanchez was of the view that Dai is among the most talented runners in world athletics and is bound to have a bright and successful career in the discipline he specialises in. Hence, for him, competing against a player like Dai was rather a great opportunity
to be exploited.
