Felix Sturm: I am in my prime and will teach Sebastian Zbik a lesson of his life – Boxing News
Felix Sturm, the current WBA world super middleweight champion, recently shared his thoughts about his upcoming engagement against Sebastian Zbik, the former WBC middleweight champion, and said that he will teach the German a lesson of his life adding that
he is in his prime and has concentrated on increasing his speed and sharpening the jabs.
The comments were put forth by the German number one Felix in a short interview after the completion of his final day at the training camp. Felix is scheduled to defend his title for the fourth consecutive time against Sebastian in a 12-round skirmish which
will be held on April 13, 2012.
The ring for the epic clash will be stretched at Lanxess-Arena situated in Cologne, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany and the event will be promoted by Felix Sturm’s own promotion, Sturm Box-Promotion.
Felix is considered as one of the best middleweights in the world who resides at the fifth rank in the world rankings. The 33-year-old has been in a total 40 bouts and emerged victorious in 36. He has collected just 15 wins by knockout and lacks the ability
to produce powerful jabs.
The fact that makes him the most lethal brawler in middleweight division is his resilience and the way he comes up with a plan even in the worst scenario’s and grabs a win.
Felix collected his prestigious gold after grabbing a unanimous decision win over Giovanni Lorenzo and since then has successfully defended it against Ronald Hearns, Matthew Macklin, and Martin Murray.
His opponent Sebastian, 30, is also a prolific pugilist who resides just after Strum in national rankings. The orthodox Sebastian has been in a total 32 bouts and emerged victorious in 30. He has collected just 10 wins by knockout.
The stats, resume and the calibre of opponents recently fought by both men clearly show that they are almost equal in capability and talent, the only aspect that gives Felix an upper hand over his fellow countryman is his experience.
After the completion of the final training session, Felix commented, “It was a great camp, I might just be in the best shape of my life. My weight is good, sparring went great. I’m ready for Sebastian Zbik and I will teach him some respect. He will feel
my pressure, my speed and my power. He will be in for a h**l of a night, especially in the late rounds.”
The duo will soon meet in the pre-bout press conference and final weigh-in ceremony and will share their thoughts about each other. Sebastian has to work hard in order to generate a unique game plan since Felix is in dire need to skim the last bout’s draw
decision off his resume.
