Felix Sturm to face Sebastian Zbik on April 13 – Boxing News
Felix Sturm, the current WBA World middleweight champion, is scheduled to face Sebastian Zbik, former WBC middleweight champion, on April 13 at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany.
Felix, who has had a smooth five-year reign as champion, will face probably the toughest opponent of his life. Felix holds 36 wins, 2 losses, 2 ties and 15 knockouts in his portfolio, whereas Sebastian holds 30 wins, 1 loss and 10 knockouts in his bag. Even
though Felix is the more experienced pugilist with more wins in his bag, his age can pull him down in this bout. Zbik is 30 right now while Sturm is 33, making Zbik the younger one in the ring. Not only his age even his fighting skills say that he can easily
take down Sturm.
According to most analysts, Zbik has what it will take to bring down Sturm. He has the power and the knacks to give Sturm a tough time in the ring.
Since Sturm is being considered as a pugilist whose time is over, it is predicted that Sturm will not be able to hold onto his title anymore when he fights Zbik. There was a time when Sturm was considered as a powerful fighter, however since he has not yet
fought any boxer who is as good as Zbik, it is obvious that he will be facing toughness.
On the other hand, Zbik lost to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. last year in June and lost his WBC title as well. However, by looking at that fight it was obvious that Zbik gave him a tough time. He even dominated some bouts of the fight but eventually fell.
Zbik has faced much tougher opposition compared to Sturm, which makes Zbik the favourite. Sturm will have his WBA title on the line against Zbik and if he wants to retain it, he will have to make sure he does not get Zbik the chance to him over. Since Zbik
is a powerful fighter, Sturm will have to stop him from throwing any powerful punches at him. Defense will not help Sturm but aggression will.
