  1. It's a cheap move on behalf of De La Hoya, should it really take place.  Why end a legacy like this?

A fight with Cotto would be a true Champion's way out of boxing, and a bigger PPV attraction.

A fight with Felix would be a fading old man's retirement-party way out..

Oscar is one of my favorites of all time though.  He was once a warrior who fought the best.  He has done so much for the sport and deserves to leave however he pleases.

If it were my decision, he should:

    1) Fight Mosley for now.  Mosley is in the same weight division as of now, and Golden Boy Promotions can gain full profit of this fight.  It's a win win situation, for both fighters.

Losing this fight will let him retire with still a big amount of cash, and make Mosley (a Golden Boy promoted fighter in need of a comeback) look good enough to stage more fights on behalf of Golden Boy Promotions.

Should he win, Mosley could retire with a big money finish.  Oscar can then move on to..

    2) Let Cotto snatch Berto's new belt by the end of this year, then fight Cotto sometime next year in a mega fight.

3a.) A lost against Cotto would still be a good retirement.  h**l, he could even fight Trinidad after a lost and still attract people to watch.

3b.) A win against Cotto could, or in my opinion WILL, bring Floyd out of retirement and stage the ultimate rematch scenario, or depending how the fight goes, stage an ultimate rematch with Cotto.

Oscar, I know you're online reading this.  Do what I say, and you'll be happy.  What's one more year for the Legend of boxing, and PPV's biggest attraction?  Millions, that's what one more year is.

In fact Oscar, trace me down and thank me, because I just laid you out a master plan for your legacy.

Good luck to Golden Boy, whatever he chooses.

  2. I was kind of hoping he will take the Cotto fight. I guess he will make more money by fighting Trinidad, probably at 165. I understand why he wouldn't take the Cotto fight. Too strong and too young. It will leave Oscar, just like he left Chavez. I'm going to go with Oscar KO. De La Hoya is still bothered by that robbery in 1999.

  3. No biggie. They don't even have a chance against Pacquiao right now. Couture vs. Emelianenko, now that's a match!

  4. Felix is way too past his prime. I don't care about 7 years ago-its not seven years ago now.

Its a worthless fight. DLH should fight somebody with a pulse. No disrespect to FT-fighters get old, and he's a shell of himself.

If Oscar wins, he gets no glory for beating someone over the hill. If he loses, he looks pathetic. Its a no-win for Oscar. Felix, of course, has absolutely nothing to lose.

  5. no cus Oscar will win anytime .;P

  6. they should just both retire and fade away they were good in there days but those days are gone...

  7. Assuming boxrec.com info about their meeting is true, I'm not too pleased with the matchup. I think the match is at least five years past due. Now, both men are past their prime. Also, what weight would they agree to fight at? Either way, I think it would have a great effect on one or both or the fighters. Oscar can't perform well at 160 or above.... and I don't think Felix can perform well at this point in his career below 160.

  8. Here are the reasons this fight would make me happy:

    (1) their first fight was controversial and although seven years have passed, it would be good to see one close the deal

    (2) the fight contains two big names and a continuing rivalry between Mexican and Puerto Rican fighters that is sure to draw fight fans and non-fight fans to watch the fight

    (3) the fight would make sense if there are no other intriguing fights out there for these two fighters and it would also be a good way for both fighters to close out their careers

#3 is key as Oscar De La Hoya has announced that this will be his last fight and if the fight between him and the winner of Cotto/Margarito is not to happen then this would be the only fight that would make sense for him.

  9. f*** yeah!!!! vegas here i come!

  10. sure why not... hearns vs leonard 2 came years later and was a great fight. Just hope they dont rob Oscar again!

  11. Oscar would kick Felix's *** badly.  I still think Oscar beat Felix the first time.

  12. Not really, boxing really needs a new star its in bad shape right now
