Question:

Fellow ATHEISTS/AGNOSTICS: What do you think of this War on Terror (so far)?

I think it's one of the few things our president, George W. Bush, has been doing right all along!

Those Islamic extremists murdered Americans on 9/11, now we're going to go wipe out radical Islam! I think it's far more dangerous than radical Christianity here at home, and I don't want us to win the struggle to defend Separation of Church and State at home, only to realize that the radical Muslims have taken over the rest of the world!

What are your thoughts?

  1. I couldn't agree more! People who are against the war, really don't understand why we are there. We aren't there for oil, if we are, why are we still paying 5 dollars a gallon?

  2. Yes he has been doing a great job going after terrorists, but I wish we didn't get involved in nation building which is costing us billions.

  3. so we got attacked on 9/11 and then invaded iraq that had no connections due that terriost attack....great war on terror there george..notice as well america didnt give a **** until it happened to them h**l there were even supplying iraq with weapons not that long ago....regardless whats more dangerous a country with diff beliefs or one that has over 4000 nukes with radical thinking nad has convinced itself that its right to police the world based on its views

  4. I cannot really understand the English of some people! English is only my second language, but I don't think I'm the one who has the problem here!

Now.. How I understand it is as follow:

There are some terrorists around the world and you have every right to defend yourself. If you're fighting them within your territory, then this is called self-defense. But if you are chasing them into their territory, I don't think this would have any other meaning than INVASION! Who's the terrorist in this case? YOU, no one else.

  5. Are you trolling?

If not, then here are my thoughts.

I don't think killing them is necessarily the answer, although they've made themselves known as a threat.

I do, however, think that radical Christianity is a threat, since it's the world's most popular religion. Look at politics nowadays! You HAVE to be Christian to get elected. That tells me something about a religionist's mindset.

    Danger lurks in every religion.

  6. Having troops occupying muslim countries is just inciting extremism or in other adding fuel to the fire. There such a thing as Covert operations and air strikes rather than sacrificing young men and women for something that is turning into another Viet Nahm.

  7. I could not disagree more.

  8. i think we've lost more lives and resources in this war than the terrorist could ever inflict on us if we were to have handled this issue like any other terrorist incident. i think if we would have used special forces to go directly after those responsible instead of declaring war on islamic fundamentalists in general we would have been better off. this is a political war. a war of ideals, spreading secularism and democracy threw the barrel of a gun can only blow up in your face...

  9. war on terror? where's the terror?

  10. All religion is poison - the time when any of it was any use to mankind whatsoever - is long gone. Now people just use it to control and discriminate against others.

  11. The War on Terror has been poorly conceived and executed leading to us being mired in Iraq and Afghanistan with no end in sight...

A complete overhaul of the approach needs to be conducted with the first step being our pull out from Iraq and Afghanistan.. Both countries have historically been ungovernable we are wasting resources attempting to govern them...  Thus miring us there when our resources could be better spent in a different approach to the problem of terrorism both domestic and foreign from many fronts not just Islamic extremists...

I believe protecting our citizens from terrorist attacks (whatever the origin) is important, I believe our current attempt at doing such is completely flawed as well as a time and money suck...

  12. I must agree that we are right to be fighting this war, but, I also, believe that it is an impossible war to win, unless we totally annihilate the radical. The greatest problem there is finding them. They don't wear uniforms or carry a sign. This is why the war is taking so long.

In the long run, I can't ever see a good ending to this war because of the difficulty of identification of the enemy. If we leave one alive, it will keep festering like an open wound that never heals.

    SEMPER FI!

  13. Had you ever thought of the fact WHY those Islamic extremists wanted to do those?

  14. Terrorism.  Hmmm.... how many times has this word been re-defined throughout the centuries.  Every nation has had to deal with it's own brand of terrorists.  Why not us?

The United States has been the biggest exploiter of planet Earth for the past 100 years.  It was only a matter of time before the disenfranchised segments of humanity rose up against us.  One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.  I don't see Jihads against any other non-Muslim nations... only America.  I wonder why?

Until humans put aside their petty differences and unite as a single species on this planet, and learn how to cooperate for the betterment of ALL, we will have "terrorism."

  15. It's going as well as the war on drugs. They won that one right?

  16. I don't believe that it was Islamic extremists murdered on 9/11, thats just me, I don't think were in any position to be bullying other countries in to what we think is right. I believe we should worry about our country, and just OUR country.

  17. Actually, I'm not that far off from your thoughts.

I think people sometimes underestimate the danger of Islam on our culture.

I couldn't care less what people want to do on their own in terms of worship. But there IS a correlation between repression of women and violence in the predominantly Islamic countries.

If you haven't read Sam Harris' book "The End of Faith" he puts this much better than I ever could. In terms of culture wars in the United States today, the repression of politics and government due to the over-influence of Evangelical Christianity is more important now. But there is a rising storm if we do not get bolder with protecting ourselves from radical Islam, since, frankly, moderate Muslims aren't doing anything.

I disagree though in giving the Bush administration much credit in this regard. I think the answer is in better immigration laws. If we have to use military force, it should actually be against those countries and areas that are a threat. Iraq is more of a threat now than it was before due to the instability and, frankly, p**s poor planning of the Bush administration.

We can't just go places and expect everyone will throw us roses.

    Edit:

"Had you ever thought of the fact WHY those Islamic extremists wanted to do those?"

See. I'm a liberal, but this is where I really disagree with many of my fellow liberals. There are many things that the United States should be culpable for. But there is never an excuse for committing acts of violence for no reason. The argument can be made against us for Iraq, and it certainly should be made against Al Queda for their attack on the WTC. I don't want to hear any bull about how "we brought that on".

  18. My thoughts are pretty much in line with yours. It sucks that people have to die but Islam is bent on world domination. We did it in Vietnam, we did it against Hitler and now we have to do it to Islam. I think there needs to be a 'Say no to Islam' united front and quick. Jews, Hindus, Chinese, Atheists, Christians, Europe's non-Muslims, I think we can get Julia Peculiar to join if we ask real nice.  I also think it's going to be funny and telling when the answerers to this question accuse you of not knowing anything about Islam.

  19. Are...you...serious?  We never should have been involved in that war to begin with.

He is practically BREEDING more terrorists.

  20. "There is one easy way to reduce the level of terror: stop participating in it." -- Noam Chomsky

  21. We have killed far more innocent people because of that war than we have terrorists. The only thing that war has done is raise the number of terrorist and give them more of a reason to fight.

  22. I think it's you, me and Chris Hitchens against the rest of our kind.

  23. You should concentrate on the struggles with the 'issues' you have.

  24. Bush and Cheney murdered Americans on 9/11 and blamed Islamic extremists. Then they went on to lie about those weapons of mass destruction so they could go to war in Iraq for oil. Then d**k's company Halliburton got a no bid contract. Radical muslims are no worse than radical christians you just don't here about it in the media.

  25. ... Well, clearly you are losing it.

Yes, after 9/11, you had every right to go into Afghanistan and get Osama. You had chances to kill Osama pre-9/11, but the USA didn't take those chances. Overthrowing the Taliban was good, but then... what the heck was America doing? Just catch Osama, focus everything on Afghanistan, and get going on the Democracy. WHY it has taken 5 years, and you still don't have Osama is beyond me.

Going into Iraq only worsened things. Two-front wars don't usually work. Plus, the invasion was total bollocks and you had no reason to be there. You are losing the war by being there. Get out of Iraq, get onto what REALLY matters, and try repairing your own economy.

Edit: Also, Canada needs to get out... we've asked for help because we WILL be leaving. The only reason Canada is participating, and getting more of our soldiers killed, is because Stephen Harper is a Bush boot-l****r.

Pseudonym A: Uh, what? Did I miss some portion of history where America won against Vietnam, or are you just delusional?

  26. we help you much in your war against christians!

we suck their resources to no end.

now its your time. Act now or never!.

  27. Terrorism extends far beyond islam.  It exists in all races, religions, cultures and geographic areas.  Even if we wiped out all islamic terrorist groups, we'd still have to go after every group around the globe.

We need to work to rid our country of any cells, make coming into this country extremely difficult, and move on from there.

If we don't take care of our own backyard first, we are of no use to anyone else.

  28. There is no justification for the intentional, unprovoked spilling of blood - ever, whether that is the crucifixtion of Jebus, to the blitzkreig in Poland to the war in Iraq.

I do believe that hunting down islamic terrorists in Afghanistan and rebuilding that country is legitimate though.

  29. My god, do you ppl really believe that some guy in a cave in afghanistan actually orchastrated the whole 9/11 thing? America killed their own to create a reason to attack the middle east. Look at operation northwoods.. Proven CORRECT.. And the president to deny the operation going ahead was kennedy, gee what happened to him?

The idea that some guy that lives in a cave planned 9/11 is as dumb as beleiving in some guy and telepathetically telling him or a part of him that you beleive in him and the only reason you ahve to beleive in him is because some lady with an extra rib ate an apple cos she was told to by a snake... Hmmm, will you next all beleive that I am the antichrist.....?

Religion has a purpose, to use it to benefit your self or ur country is not it. It is there to bring out your morals and learn from any mistakes you make along your life journey.

George Bush is a homo and the war on terror is made up to cover up his biggest **** up of the american economy...
