(Atheists and anyone else, I'm not tryin to exclude you from answering or anything, but as you can see it's kind of irrelevant for ya) Anyway, I always thought resisting temptation would make you feel better or good, but I'm finding it's actually a really difficult, mood-downing kinda thing :/ How was it for you?

  1. I tell ya, girl, it was delish!  I wish you could have been there

  2. How was which? -- The temptation or the resistance?

(Actually, both have their good points, thank you very much.)

  3. I resist temptation every day of my life in one form or another.

    How was it for me?

I don't understand the question. By the power of God's Word and his Spirit He has made me an overcomer, albeit not a perfect overcomer, in Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:13  For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

Romans 6:3  Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?  4  Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  5  For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,  6  knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.  7  For he who has died has been freed from sin.

  4. resisting temptation does not feel good. because what we are being tempted by is something we really want. depending on what you resisted, will direct what else i can say.  if it is something like drugs, then hooray, you sure did the right thing.  if it is something like having s*x with someone, then that is debatable about whether you did what was really right for you.  meditate, go within, pray, and go by what you have the most peace about.   i don't know your age or circumstances.

i can say i know exactly what you mean, by it being a difficult, mood downing thing.  perhaps that is temporary, and the good feelings come later when you see how much better your life is by not doing whatever it was.  if that does not happen, then evaluate the situation for yourself and decide what is right for you.  blessings to you.  ps i am a Jesus lover.  but i don't interpret the bible the same as the fundamental christians do.  so many different ways to view so much about the bible.

i go by what God speaks to my heart, from that still small voice, rather than what is written.

  5. "The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it."

    Oscar Wilde

  6. Every time I am able to resist temptation, I tell God, "Lord, I thank you for giving me the opportunity to show you that I love you."

(Joh 14:15)  If ye love me, keep my commandments.

  7. satan lies to you with all he has to throw at you, but God will not allow you to be tempted above what you can handle, but will with the temptation also make a way for you to escape that ye may be able to bear it.
