Are you sick of Pelosi and Reid rolling over for King George and his Corporate Cronies?

Allowing telecom companies immunity?

WTF?

An unpopular president such as he is, and they just let the a*****e have whatever he wants?

Establishing after-the-fact that it was acceptable for telecommunications companies to break the law and spy on American citizens has nothing to do with protection from terrorism, but everything to do with shielding powerful corporations from accountability for their actions. Granting retroactive immunity in this case sets a dangerous precedent for corporations to trample the rights of middle-class Americans.

  1. This bill (as Nancy Pelosi stated) has nothing to do with infringing on American Citizens' rights to privacy.  It has to do with telecom companies willingness to cooperate with surveillance of terrorists without fear of being sued for doing so.  The suit that was brought was dismissed  for lack of evidence because not one of the plaintiffs could prove that the surveillance was directed at them or that any of their rights were violated.  No one broke any laws and no corporate favoritism was shown.  It's a matter of common sense.

It is not rolling over for anyone.  It is a wise decision that will help prevent future terrorist attacks.  The surveillance tactics that have been used since 9/11 have not injured or denied rights to any American citizens.  However, if you've forgotten, we have NOT had a terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11.

The plot to blow up planes over the Atlantic was initiated in Pakistan, and was thwarted by the same types of intelligence you are condemning.   Thank God they were not worrying about stepping on someone's personal paranoia.   As a result hundreds or possibly thousands of lives were spared.

Your short-sighted, narrow-minded approach to what is and is not infringement on citizen's rights, and what does and does not keep you  safe is amazing.  To veil such ignorance with your personal hatred for Bush is juvenile.  I imagine if it was anyone else's idea, it would be acceptable to you.

  2. Yes, in 1984 he ascribed it to the Communists, but his prophecies came             to past, with Bush's and other Fascistoid capltalist regimes.

  3. Telecom immunity is so wrong. Thank God Qwest stood up to them.

  4. The corporations were merely comply with requests, not initiating the spying themselves. They kissass to law enforcement just like they do to politicians in order to keep from being targets. It's self-preservation for the corporations.

BTW, yes, Orwell was right, as was Aristotle, Sophocles, and Confucius. People have been talking about political manipulation of the masses for millenia.

And what does that have to do with 'middle-class Americans'. We don't differentiate between income levels in this country with respect to rights. They either trample the rights of all Americans or none of us.

  5. I am sick of Pelosi and Reid ,yes.
