I have been a Yankee fan since I could walk I have sat though some horrible years. I hate the way the front office has put the team together the past 6 years by signing all stars and over the hill players to long contracts and now its showing its bad side. After this season the yanks will have many of these contracts expiring if you were the Yankee brass who would you keep or let walk after this season how would you build the team that will open the new Yankee Stadium?

Jason Giambi (38) - $22MM club option for '09 with a $5MM buyout

Bobby Abreu (35)

Mike Mussina (40)

Carl Pavano (33) - $13MM club option for '09 with a $1.95MM buyout

Andy Pettitte (37)

Sidney Ponson (32)

  1. I dont like it

  2. They're probably going to trade Ponson and Pavano and keep the rest.

You know how Cashman is with keeping very old veterans. Especially ones that could hit once in their career even if they still can't hit anymore.

  3. Giambi: Buyout & let him walk.

Abreu: Sign him to a 2 year deal. He is much better than you all think.

Moose: 1 year deals at a time, he has had a great year but only 1 year removed from the worst of his carrer

Pavano: Halalujha it is finnaly over

Pettie: It is his call, give him what he wants, he is a solid #4 starter now in his carrer.

Ponson: Was just here as a bandaid. h**l if things start to go sour again next year, he seems to be there for the Yankees for a 1/2 year! :)

    Free Agents:

CC: GIve him the moon if he wants it, just get him

Texiria: They will grosely over pay to get him...if he is willing to play in New York, he will get whatever he wants.

Manny: I could actually see him as a full time DH, sad to say it but it makes since. Imaging him protecting A-Rod with Texiria batting 5th.

    1. Johhny Damon

    2. Derek Jeter

    3. A-Rod

    4. Manny Ramirez

    5. Mark Texira

    6. Bobby Abreu /Hediki Matsui

    7. Jorge Posada

    8. Robby Cano

    9. Xavier Nady/ Hediki Matsui

That is a sick lineup. good Left/Right matchups

  4. Giambi i would maybe try to trade

Abreu i guess i would keep but would maybe look for someone

Mussina looks good this season and i would probabl keep but get someone who is young but proven

    Pavano get rid of

Pettite also looks good but same as Mussina keep but look

    Ponson let go

  5. PSSST THE YANKEES ARE NOT WORTH IT! cHECK OUT THE METS

  6. GONE: Giambi, Pavano and Mussina.

GET: Starting pitching and relievers.  A utility infielder and a backup catcher who might end up taking Posada's place.  Tell Giradi he's got one more year.  They should be in contention by the All Star break.

Take Pavano out back and put him out of his misery.  No team deserves to have a bum like that.  I'd be surprised if they get a player to be named later for him.

It will take 2-3 years to rebuild.  Quick fixes won't work anymore.

  7. Giambi: Let him walk. He's not as consistent as he used to be and he's not good enough defensively to keep. Keep him only if he agrees to a much lower salary.

Abreu: I could go either way with him. But I say let him walk and let Nady take over in right field.

Mussina: Let him come back on a 1-year deal. You never want to give a multi-year deal to a pitcher in his 40s. I'm sure he'd return to Baltimore if the Yankees let him go. But if the Yanks can get Sabathia or Sheets in free agency, it won't be as bad of a loss.

Pavano: Let him go! Sorry, even if he has five solid starts to end the year, he's been a waste for the Yankees. I don't want him anymore.

Pettitte: Let him come back with another 1-year deal with a player option. He's earned it.

Ponson: See how the rest of the season shakes out, then offer him a 1-year deal with a team option if he keeps up the strong pitching. He's been a lot better than I figured he'd be.

Edit: LOL at "trade A-Rod." Without A-Rod, the Yankees wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs last season. Besides that, his new contract makes him practically immovable. That and getting value back for him will be nearly impossible. A-Rod will be a Yankee for the remainder of his career. And I'm glad to have him.

  8. Keep- Andy Pettitte

    Bobby Abreu

Mike Nussina(Only if does not cost us allot)

    Drop

    -------------

    Ponson

    Pavano

    Giambi

PS trade the choker A-Rod he's a Cancer!!!!

  9. bobby abreu wouldnt even come close to playing on my team

i hate him as a ball player

he sucks and hes a bum

    bobby "the bum" abreu

  10. -Let Jason go. Maybe have a shot at Teixera.

-Let Bobby go, and let someone like Gardner take over. Hopefully Melk is good to go next year.

-I dont see why we need Moose after this year, despite his great career for us. Let him go.

-No chance Pavano stays. Too many injuries

-If Andy Pettitte decides to pitch next year, it would be with the Yankees, and I think he's a good veteran and solid arm in the rotation. Sign him.

    -Sign Ponson for insurance.

We could try to trade some of our older players for younger ones. (maybe Matsui, and Damon) Keeping Nady, Cabrera, and Gardner in the outfield still gives us a leadoff hitter (Gardner perhaps) and a younger outfield, who plays well defensively. A Teixera signing would be great for the void at first, and a strikeout pitcher (Sabathia, Sheets, etc) would be a great addition. And most of all, pray that injuries don't plague us again this season.

  11. Well the Yankees  i don't like the fact they go with getting all this Big High priced Players to be Honest, but i think they will let go to Giambi and Pavano and Ponson, i think they will give Pettitte and Mussina a chance and Abreu i think he will stay

  12. Giambi is gunna be 39 and rapidly losing power and his obp will be going down cause his vision will just get worse and mark texiera is gunna be a free agent...(walk)

Abreu's D is HORRIBLE!!! and his power hasn't been showing up...

    (walk)

Moose... how can you let him go after this season??? he'll be like what Jamie moyer is now,(he already sorta is though) but even more effective (keep)

Pavano... What do you think? lol....

Petitte... his cutter will be like a 86 mph meatball... he won't be able to live off it like he has been and his curve isn't all that and neither is his change...(walk)

Ponson... No control (pitching and off the field(partying)) and stuff isn't good enough and weight problems

The market is GREAT for pitching (Burnett, Sabathia, Sheets, Lackey, and Harden) Giambi is replaceable  (Teixera) and Abreu has got  Nady...

  13. im a red sox fan but i know what your saying i have watched the yanks alot like most soxs fans but i also dont understand what they are doing sometimes like sexon, three catchers making way to much jorge doesnt make to much he's worth every penny bad luck with getting hurt. but to be honest i think they should let them all go get some young hungry talent look at the rays this year young players with something to prove, now a days that will get you further then a 20 mil guy that gets payed  no matter what, look at manny.
