  1. It isn't justice. It's just another crime disguised as justice.

  2. Totally against it.  There's nothing just about vigilantism.

  3. It's not right.

  4. Bad Idea™

  5. Not a fan. when you consider how often careful investigations have yield the wrong suspects, how likely is vigilantism to strike the right targets?

  6. Against it.

Vigilante justice is usually carried out by people who aren't objective.

Therefore, it's not really justice at all.

    It's revenge.

  7. people should get used to being wornged, stabbed in the back etc

    don't stoop to their level

unless its a really extreme situation

    is this bait?

i have trouble believing this is a serious question

the golden rule is generally enough as a foundation for a moral code.  supernatural intervention into the natural world is not a requirement, although it is fashionable to think so

  9. I agree with first responder.  Justice must be administered deliberately, and in accordance with well-understood practices.

  10. I love the idea, but I'm totally against it.

Often times things are not as they seem and it's easy to draw irrational conclusions. I have been completely wrong in my assumptions more times than I can count. I have also been falsely accused.

There must be some kind of standard set and maintained by rational, preferably elected, individuals.

  11. Very much against it.

  12. Generally against.  In fiction it seems fascinating and noble but I think in real life it would be a lot less so.

  13. Most societies already have a justice system, making vigilantes useless and criminal.

  14. Against it - usually carried out by people who are incredibly biased. The justice system may not always work, but it's as close as we can get, and if you think something about it needs changing, work on the system as a whole, not one case.

  15. "Vigilantes" is an emotionally-charged word. I think they have been needed when there was no effective law enforcement and are still needed in such situations.

  16. If they were always in the right I'd have no problem, but lots of people are fueled by emotion and you'd get improper stuff going on.

  17. I believe we need to leave justice up to the courts.

  18. don't think it's a good idea.

  19. Against it.

Vigilantism is based on emotion.  Justice must be administered impartially, and emotion gets in the way of that.
