What do you love about band? What instrument(s) do you play?

My band teacher is like, the best, most enthusiastic teacher in the world. He has the best methods for learning and he is pretty much a kid himself. He has so much energy and is dedicated to music. He has inspired me to look at music in a whole different way. I've been playing the French horn for almost 4 years. I've almost mastered the trumpet. I can play the mellophone decently. Plus, I'm a budding sax player..just like my teacher.

  1. im in about the same position as you. ive played drums for 7 years and i LOVE it. and once i got to high school and learned marching percussion, i am IN LOVE with drums. i used to play concert percussion but now im into drum corps and stuff too. and my instructors for my school really insipred me and i never really thought about music as my future job, but now, i want to dedicate my life to music. i love music in general, and the fact that i am making the music makes it all the more better. and when you are playing something difficult, and you finally get it, you feel really accomplished. my feelings are hard to explain. but nothing can be more fun than music.

  2. hmmm...what do i love about band...lets see...EVERYTHING!!! lol. my band director is amazing and we have an awesome program. he loves us all like his own kids and takes care of us and teaches us using the best methods i have ever seen.

i play the trumpet. i have been playing for 7 years now. i take private lessons and also play with a college band even though i am only 16.

i am very happy to see that so many other people love band just as much as we do! its awesome! lol.

  3. DO OUR WORLD A BIG FAVOR,....TELL YOUR BAND DIRECTOR HOW MUCH YOU APPRECIATE HIM!

teaching can be a tough job, even teaching music!!!

band directors never hear the important words from their students until right before graduation,....the words are (thank you for teaching me this beautiful wonderful thing/thanks for encouraging me and pushing me to do my best).

    go ahead-make his day!!!

oh yeah, the thing i love best is seeing students really get what i am teaching, like when they practice hard to get skills-then get all proud of themselves of their accomplishments!

INSTRUMENTS I PLAY????? all of them--duh cuz i'm a band director,....

  4. I have so many reasons as to why i love band! omg, where to start?? well, i started in band in 6th grade, and fell in love! i play the clarinet and automatically took to it! i've been first chair for 3 of the past 4 years. i love it! the clarinet is so pretty and has the most beautiful tone! i am trying to get into piano lessons and learn to play another instrument. this  coming marching season i am going to be one of the 3 drum majors!! yay!

i'm such a nerd, but i love it! it's like being a part of another family! i love my director. i don't know how she does it! she's amazing! she makes it fun and band camp is soooo much fun!!  band is pretty much my whole life! i love it!

  5. I love band for MANY reasons, I'll try to stick to the most important ones =)

First of all, I also have a GREAT director. He's not perfect, I know, but he's an amazing person and an amazing teacher. I'll leave it at that- if I try to say much more, I'll be typing for days =)

Second, I'm one of those "gifted" students who tends to get bored in class. I hate pretty much ALL of my other classes because I show up, sit there for what seems like forever, and then do an assignment I could have easily completed two or three years ago. In Band, though, I'm challenged and I'm pushed. It might not sound like much, but to me, it really is.

And third, our band has moral and ethical codes that I personally believe in. Our basic values are "Respect, Pride, and Dignity" and the most important phrase in our call-and-response dismissal routine is "Eyes- WITH PRIDE." That's the last phrase, and it's the only one we say twice. I guess it feels like the "old-fashioned" stuff I'm interested in; the honor and the chivalry and whatnot.

    Rant officially over =)

  6. Hi! I'm glad someone likes band as much as I do! I've been taking trombone for quite a while now, and I also play piano, recorder, clarinet, and guitar! :) yay music!
