Question:

Fellow vegans: what in life inspires you? Why?

I was just thinking how the majority of vegans share a love for animals unless you have another reason for being vegan, but I was wondering besides animals, what inspire you I guess, or make you happy in life and why? Personally, laughing until you feel like you can't breathe, the rain outside drenching you, the smell of vanilla, someone understanding, and basically all the simple things in life like that inspire me. I could just go on and on and...yeah! lol! Thanks! :)

  1. I am a militant animal rights activist, health reasons are just an added bonus.

I am inspired by how horrible this world is and I feel that I need to do my part in making it a better place.

  2. i dont know if your asking like what i really enjoy. if you are then...

i enjoy cuddling down with a really good book and reading it all through the night, i absolutely love falling asleep to thunderstorms. i love to run the feeling to push your body and to just keep going is amazing. im addicted to music and the way people can incorporate their emotion into it. i also like being introduced to new things, and learning random useless knowledge. i love exploring new vegan foods. and just putting on your favorite song and dancing and singing to it. most of all i love being with the people i love!

i could go on forever too :)

  3. That's a really good question. I think a lot of small things inspire me:

Just being alive and being an American...I think of women in other countries who are my age and they cannot vote, go to school, make their own decisions, etc. I'm happy that I can live my life how I want.

Food...I love to cook and I love to eat. Any and everything that is healthy and tasty is fair game to me! I absolutely love sushi. When I have some really good rolls, I think that if I keeled over suddenly, I'd die a happy woman. :-)

Music...I have a really strange mix of songs on my iPod. I just enjoy all kinds of music and I also love to dance. Dancing has to be one of my all-time fave activities.

My list could go on, but here are others: swimming, rain (I agree with you), reading, spending time with my mother, and doing good deeds for others, attending Mass...yep. That keeps me going.

  4. I'm vegan 50% because of health reasons, and 50% moral. It's so amazing to know that I didn't have to kill anything for my own consumption purposes. Finding other vegans and atheists or just like minded people always inspires me, gives me hope that not everyone is selfish and brainwashed.

    Good question! : )

  5. Great question.

Sometimes, just being alive feels great to me - there's so much you can be, and so much you can do. Talking and laughing with others, walks through countryside, the feeling you get after exercise (not before or during though sadly!), talking to God, kissing and hugging your partner, eating and drinking wonderful food and drink, learning and writing about new ideas... there's so much!

And obviously, being vegan means you're helping to contribute to others doing these things too if they wish, and for humans and animals to live more happily alongside each other.

    Yep, life is pretty special.
