  1. no, it doesn't go away until you go and stand trial for it and take care of it in court. If the apartment application asks you can't lie and say you don't have a felony. Yes, it will show up if you move to another state. You can get it to become a misdemeanor if you go to court and ask your public defender (which gets provided for you, especially if you ask) how you can and the judge makes the final decision. Depending on what your felony charge was about, it may affect your life forever. All you can do is go to call your local police department and they can help you get started... i don't know why you don't have constant court dates already though.

  2. Danielle,

sorry to say sweetheart but it's there for life, as for getting a apartment it is a thing that shouldn't matter unless your felony is a felony that may put other residents at risk, passing bad or fraudulent checks is a felony but not a risk to other tenants or residents, a s*x offense is a felony and would constitute as a risk, so wiegh the felony to the choices that you make in life, you dealt with it for seven years still many years of life to go, good luck and stay out of trouble

  3. Not usually

    Yes it can

    Yes it can

You probably can't; talk to the court where you were sentenced

    Felony stupid. Period

  4. In order, your answers are No, Yes, Yes, You can't, In many ways, and last, listen to me and I'll try to help you.

If you a have only one - and I mean ONE - felony conviction, you may have a chance of getting it "expunged" (erased and stricken from the records).

In every state in the USA, a felony conviction follows you around, due to the advent of the LEIN (Law Enforcement Information Network). This computerized database shows every person with a conviction for any crime, including the aliases used, the original charges, the sentence, warrants for arrest, entire criminal record, every known address, and on and on. And it goes across not only the 50 states, but across North America, as well as most of Europe. And if your landlord does a criminal check on you, he'll see it too.

Your Indiana conviction can be erased by making a Motion To Set Aside (Expunge) Conviction. You have to go back to the Indiana judge who first had your case. That judge (or his/her successor) is the only judge who has the power to remove it. I do this for people I represent in Michigan, and I'll tell you that without a good Indiana lawyer, you probably won't be able to get it erased without help. The judge will only set the conviction aside if you've been a very good boy both before and after you got in trouble.

  5. You hire a Lawyer to get it expunged or sealed. It shouldn't hinder you then. Not all companies do an extensive back ground check. The seldom contact former employers unless it's a job working with kids or money.

  6. If convicted, you will have a criminal record, and will have to put details on all applications in the future about the crime.  No matter where you are, your criminal record is always there.  If you don't have a lawyer, I doubt you will get it reduced to a misdemenor since you won't have the "power or the right" to see the judge like lawyers do.  Lawyers can also suggest alternatives, and/or suggestions to lessen the crime.  Hey, think of s*x offenders.  They do it once at 21, they live through it until death...If they die at 71, they would have gone through this mistake for 50 years...
