Felony Assault on a Cop

Question

I'm 18 , have no criminal record, and long story short I headbutt a cop in Montana. ( yes, I know I f*cked up! ) He wasn'y seriously injured.

I'm released on $5,000 bail right now but have court next week.

Will I get a probation Sentence with other conditions such as anger mangement and community service?

Or is montana more likely gonna send me to jail for awhile or something?

I was drunk at the time this happened but I'm only charged with Felony Assault on a Cop...

get a lawyer....you will be fine.....it sounds to me like you may have a alcohol or drug problem....you should get a evaluation..good luck

I would have also charged you with underage drinking, Resist/ obstruct/& delay and disorderly conduct. You may as well get ready to pull some time. Judges love to see drunks who have assaulted there officers.

Plead NOT guilty at your first court appearance.

The charge might get reduced.

Yes you did f*ck up. Next time you have an encounter with the police they are going to see your felony assault on an officer record, and treat you with proper care, even if it's only a traffic stop. You probably aren't going to like the ''proper care''.

Your best bet is to plead guilty and tell the judge just what you told us, that you "f*cked up" and tell him you are sorry and that it was an honest mistake, and that you were intoxicated and didn't know what you were doing on the time. Hopefully, he will reduce the charge.

Pleading not guilty is a bad idea, it will be the officer's word vs. yours, and the officer probably has the bruises to prove it any way.
