Female Betta fins nipped?

Question

I took a look at my female Betta today and she was in a plant hiding.

18 Gallon Tall with 3 Cory Cat, 6 Neon Tetra, 6 Black Light Tetra, and 2 Platy.

Extra filtration, no current...and all the good stuff...medium planted tank with log for Cory Cats.

Tank has been up for a long time. Tank mates for at least 8 months. Had a Dwarf Gourami and for about 6 months in same tank and there were no issues...moved him to Angel Tank for no particular reason.

Today, I noticed her fins had been nipped...surely not the Platy?

Neons/Black Lights?

Any suggestions on who it is?

I have since then taken steps to remove her to another tank where she will be with some other Neons...if I can rule em out...

your betta may attack other fish and the other fish will attack back

I'm not sure what you mean by black light tetra, there isn't such a thing (look at google images). I think what you truly mean is a black skirt tetra, if so, it was most likely them. They have been known on occasion to nip at longer finned fish (you can kind of tell because look at the tiny teeth on the edge of their mouths!). There is a chance it was the neons though.

I would bet that it's the tetras. They're pretty notorious nippers.

Any of the tetra's can be nippy but not usually when they are kept in school.s.  I've never had platies be nippy but you never know....

Betta's are loner fish. Best left in a tank by themselves. They are moody and agressive. And at the same time, very open to being injured themselves. It doesnt matter how long they been tank mates. Fish have like a 10 second memory. And those fins being so long and flowy,  have the look of deliciousness to any other fish. I had tank mates for years. And all the sudden they started eating eachother. Fish are just like that.
