How Do You Think Female Criminals Are Represented In The Media??

When Talking About Media I Mean Anything Type Of Media: Internet, TV, Radio, Books, Newspapers, Magazines.

imo.....  they're sugar-coated, treated more leniently by the press. ..  Women can be just as vile, devious & uncaring as men & should be just as harshly represented.  Excuses like following the voices in their heads, God spoke directly & ordered them, etc.  are bull.    On the radio last week I heard about the old lady 'Betty" who has poisoned 4-5 husbands.  The djays were laughing & joking about it, saying it's easier than divorce; but it's diabolical!  I didn't think it was funny.

The ones who murder because of abuse......I sympathize with....they should be treated easier.   These women probably really think things will get better, stay in a relationship until they're very dependent then when/if they do try to make a break, there's the very real threat of retaliation or future harm.... it's enuf to truly warp your way of thinking.  Murder may seem to actually be the only way out.

I think they are treated like criminals same as men are, but they are supposed to be criminals in less violent ways, then men are, such as poisoning or gun shots, I think they are treated the same as any male criminal in the news, if not more viewed by people more because women are not usually involved in huge crimes, and the big crimes committed by women are plastered on tv

Their looks play a large part in how they are portrayed.

I think it depends on the crime that they have committed. For example a mother who drowns her children in the bathtub is able to use mental health as an excuse, and is than able to get off on a lighter sentences due to a law and order episode.

It makes me sick to think that while her children suffered by the hands that created her, she gets off so easily.

I think that woman are not punished as harshly. And the media gives women more empathy.
