Female Hockey- Your Opinion??

Im 13 years old, and this will be my 5th year of hockey I play for an all girls team, and this year we were actually really good. We play against other girls teams in the province.. Im not quitting, so i dont wanna hear any of that. I just want to know your opinion of it. What do you think about girls playing hockey?

There's nothing wrong with it.  It doesn't matter that the NHL is full of men.  If you're a girl and you want to play hockey, go for it and keep up with it.  If you quit that just proves chauvinistic men right - that girls are sissies and they can't take it.  So if you go pursue hockey and don't give up, there's no reason for girls not to play.

I think it is great to play hockey if your a girl but you should play in a different league than guys because even if you can handle it no guy is gonna want to be known as the guy who checked  the girl.

As a woman that plays. It is great. Don't ever stop playing. It is the best thing for you. Exercise and travel and friends and competition. Not too much else better.

I think girls should be able to play anything they want because just like boys, if they practice they'll become just as good.

I've had the opportunity to skate with a number of women who play/have played D1/D3 college hockey, and even a few who skated with the National team (I've scored on a woman with a gold medal at the olympics).  Women may not be as big, strong and fast as men at a similar level of competition (ie. UNH women's team vs. UNH men's team), but they are still very skilled players.  Anyways, I'm all for womens hockey.

Hockey is great, Im 38 and still playing.  When I was a kid there were no girl hockey leagues so I had to play ringette which is a stupid game that any moron could play.  I have been playing hockey year round for the last 10 years and I love it.  I love watching the women's Olympic team play because it's all about pure skill since there is(supposed to be)  no body contact and fighting.  Women will probably never make the money that men do in the NHL but it can get you a scholarship to a university or college so you can further your education.  Don't give up, it's something you can play till you are really old!!!

i love the game and i make so many life long friends

i currently have no team right now between the Uof M and the womens western hockey league!

but keep going and i am glad you like hocey

I love a girl that can pass the puck on the pond, beat me at NHL 08 and quote Slap Shot line for line.

Get a Scholly, make a wage and get everyone you know to play hockey

i say if they want to go for it but you have to think about it this way

the wnba makes way less than the (m)nba

Hockey has worse ratings than i love lucy reruns

and combining those two aspects makes for a league with very little fans

i just dont think you could sell that to anyone

i would love to see it happen however.

Well the Nhl and girls is a no go due to the fact of rules. I think that world hockey with females is great. They make plays and hit, wouldnt mind seeing female in the nhl see if it works. I wouldnt count on it.

To answer you i think it is great! At your age if you stick to it you may play in the winter olympics. Stick to it people will be people and say stupid stuuf go for it kid.

Love it. Played 8 years of hockey, was on A teams with boys, went to girls 4 years back, and my first year I was in a terrible league so it kind of sucked. I went to a club team and it was great. This year I was a Freshman, and was part of the first season for my high school's girls team. We played a varsity schedulae ur first year as a team and made tourney. I love hockey, I'm completely obssessed. Now obviously girls hockey and boys are totally different, as far as playing I enjoy girls just as much, watching I'd rather watch the boys.
