Female anime character with short brown hair? Need help with cosplay.?

I'm going to a huge anime convention in a little over a month and I need to find a character to be. I have short brown hair (pretty much a pixie cut). It would be nice to have a somewhat simple character where it would be easy to make the costume. Thank you for the help.

Kino from Kino's Journey/Kino no Tabi (this costume is a lot more stylized than just the gender-bending school girl look, but it's still simple enough. And especially since there's a big story behind her cutting her hair, it might be interesting...)

You could probably do this with a little hair extension on the one side. Since she typically dresses in ordinary clothes, this will be a relatively easy cosplay to do. The only REAL must have is that little piece of hair. She is often depicted wearing a bear costume or hat. She's a very popular character, so you will be able to find lots of reference images.

I don't know her name, but I think she'll probably fit your short do perfectly. Only problem is that her costume is rather complex...

You could also try Kairi from the Kingdom Hearts video games, but with the hair, that might be pushing it.

I can't think of too many really short haired characters. Wearing a wig for the day might be a good idea, because it will increase your options.
