Female betta & other community fish with guppies in a 55 gallon tank?

I am thinking about getting a 55 gallon tank, and right now I have 2 tanks: a 12 gallon with only guppies, and a 20 gallon with 5 neon tetras, 5 cardinal tetras, 4 black neon tetras, 3 mixed-fruit tetras, 1 albino cory, 3 emerald green corys, and a female betta. All of the fish in the 20 gallon tank get along well with the female betta and I've had no problems. When I get the 55 gallon however, I was thinking of combining the guppies with all of the other community fish, including the female betta. I am not so worried about the different types of tetras, but will my guppies be okay with the female betta?? Or is it better to keep her seperated from the guppies altogether? I am kind of nervous as I love my guppies and don't want to see them die!!

Also, I thought I might add that my female betta is strange... she doesn't like betta pellets, and will only eat flake food, and loves eating algae wafers!! And yes I'm sure its a female betta lol she just doesn't act like one!!

  1. You shouldn't have any problems. Only one there may be is if she thinks one of the male guppies is a male betta.

  2. I don't see any problem with that... just that the tetras and/or guppies may nip the betta, or vice versa, but if there have been no problems in the past, then it would be quite acceptable...
