Female cat question all answers welcome?

My female cat is very loving while in heat, will sit with us, want constant attention and even sit with our very large 90 pound puppy but when she is not in heat she is less loving and a bit skittish/nervous of every little sound she hears. Once she is spayed will she act more like the way she is when she is in heat (want attention, follow us around, be petted constant etc) or will she act like when she is not in heat (skittish, nervous, only wants attention when she feels like it etc)? or is it hard to determine and is individual? From anyones experience how did your female act or change once spayed?

  1. Cats have a mind of their own...so it's really hard to say...

  2. Wow   rude answers are not called for. MF  you just did that to someone else as well.

Cats are like people in that they all have different personalities.  Most of my females have become friendly when they have been spayed.  That does not mean they will fall all over you and want constant attention.  Cats do tend to make their own rules about when they want to be petted or fussed.  It is part of their charm, I think. Also remember that cats have incredibly sensitive hearing so if you house is noisy or loud that would make her a little skittish. Too much loud noise actually hurts their ears.

We had a cat that was so nervous, terrified in fact, that it took us years of slow tender loving care to get him to where he is today.

Please get her spayed ASAP and love her regardless of how much attention she does or does not need.

  3. My cat calmed down a lot after she was spayed.  But the "flirting" behaviour with humans etc. during heat will stop

  4. Well if shes only nice in heat and you spay her, she wont be in heat.

    Its a pretty obvious answer.

  5. My cat was MEAN when she was a kitten, and settled down considerably once she got older. I can't say it was because she was spayed, but I think all cats change as they age. I'm sure she will grow into herself and become more comfortable with you and her surroundings as she gets older, even if she's not the most friendly/aggressive cat you'll ever own. She may be loving in her own way. My cat has a mind of her own, and pretty much does what she wants.

  6. It really depends on the cat. She may become a little more affectionate but not much.

I had a cat that had a similar problem and she is a bit more affectionate now. what we did was got treats for her. you can get cat treats at any store. The ones that make noise are better and easier to work with your cat. Just shake the treats and make a noise that she will recognize the sound and know that it is her treats. Call her name at the same time. She will learn to be around you more and come when she is called.. My cat is a little more affectionate now that we have done that.. so try it... it may work... GOOD LUCK .

  7. I am not sure what is supposed to happen, but I do remember being told by my vet that if they are allowed to go into heat at least once before being spayed, they will still have those moments when they appear to be in heat. My female had her first heat before she was fixed and now, still has those times where she acts like she is. But, for the most part, she is quite the aggressor and very jumpy. Lol, sorry. Though that could be just be unique to my little girl.

  8. Cats are very independent animals. It is there nature to only want attention when they want it. I always fix my animals. I have found that as they get alittle older, they will seek you out a little more.  It is a good idea to play with your cat and talk to him/her. They  are creatures of habit and will enjoy play time and will come to  expect it. The more you interact with your animal, the more attached he/she will become.

  9. my cat is the same way.

if you spay her, she will be less loving from my experience.

  10. My cat was the same.

When we got her spayed, she turned alot more loving all the time. She's such a little sweetheart all day, every day now!

I think it depends on the cat.
