Question:

Female guinea pigs fighting help?

my two female guinea pigs have lived together for years without any problems, they have just started to fight with each other and i have had to seperate them,

1. i want to know why they are fighting after so long together

2. i feel bad about seperating them as they are bonded, but know it is best for them any advice on getting them back together

  1. I've kept GP's for years and have experienced this too.  If you have an outside run, put them both in it and when they're about to attack each other, throw a tea towel over them.  It distracts them & stops them thinking about fighting.  Keep doing it everytime they want to fight and they'll soon get the picture.  When they've calmed down, put them back in the hutch together.


  2. One of them may be ill. Sometimes they pick on the other one if they are not feeling well.
