Female gymnasts and martial arts?

if a female gymnast took up martial arts at the age of 18 after she had been doing gymnastics all her life would she have much chance of becoming a world champion

say if it was a kicking martial arts

  1. The only advantage you'd have is you'd go in as a white belt who can do splits. Not that big of an advantage. In Jujitsu it would be even less of an advantage.


  2. she could probably fight well, but i dunno bout world champ though she can certainly try. u neva know what'll happen :)

  3. it would help as most kickboxer and jujitsu fighters are not as felexible and fast as a gymnasts. however to become the best it requires a lot of dicipline and going through h**l every day.

  4. If she trained hard enough to reach that goal.  

    Martial arts would be an entirely new learning experience to her.  Flexibility is a good thing to have, but that doesn't mean you will learn how to spar or pick up kata faster.

  5. she would have the transferable skills and the discipline. Sure, there is a chance after at least 5- 10 years of training under the best master or a former champion.. 3-4 hours of training per day.

    If she hase maintaines her fitness level She should do fine.
