  1. In this world of pc and equality, since when could one discriminate a womens roles?

  2. Yes, all kinds.

  3. If she wasn't then she would probably sue for discrimination.

  4. more than likely yes.. they don't have a choice they are just assiagned case #'s

  5. Certainly.  She is a Sworn Peace Officer.  She gets the same caseload any other Probation Officer gets.  This is the 21st century, after all.

  6. In my area, the P.O.'s are assigned all kinds. Rapist, child molesters, dopers, robbers and killers.

The P.O.'s don't get to pick and choose who they supervise.

  7. Yes, why not? They are assigned to all types of criminals.  Should a PO that is wealthy not be assigned someone who robbed a bank? Or a PO who takes Vicodin not work with someone who is a pill adict?

  8. I see you're from London so this is a UK question.

There is no reason why a female PO should not, in principle, be assigned rapists to her case load. In fact it could be argued that a female PO may be able to directly challenge some of the offending related distorted thinking underlying rape more effectively than a male PO and dispel dangerous myths about gender stereotypes.

There may be some instances when practitioners (male or female) have personal experiences that mean that they would not be able to work objectively with certain categories of offenders or be able to manage the difficult feelings emerging from working with such people. Under these circumstances line managers would find ways of ensuring the welfarre of their staff.

The same applies if there are specific concerns relating to the risk that an offender presents to a specific PO, or to a category of staff (male, female, different ethnic groups etc.)

  9. Very unlikely.

  10. yes-but she can also insist on a male chaperone when dealing with the rapist.

  11. Yes, but you would also have a gun and taser and pepper spray.  You can also switch with other officers.  You might find that you handle people that the male officers don't like to be near.  Give them the rapists.

Have you started the training yet?   it's a great job for bad economic times.  You won't get fired.
