  1. Start buy choosing light-weight and comfortable clothing - it will be HOT in July.  Choose items that can be mixed and matched with more than one thing (example - a shirt that can go with 2 pair of shorts and a skirt).  Pack comfortable shoes!  You will be doing a lot of walking in Europe unless you want to waste all your money on cabs.  And last, I would only pack one or two "fancy" items (unless you know you will specifically need more).

Also pack a small first aid kit (for cuts or blisters), stuff for your period (you may not find what you're used to using there), and a photocopy of your passport (in case you loose yours).  Oh, and an umbrella or rain poncho would be good too.

    Have fun!

  2. pack 14 cheap the jeans you won't use after you come

    pack 5 skirts

    pack 18 shirts

    pack 16 tan tops

  3. Unless you are spending July at someone's house, you may want to consider a 9day supply of clothes.  Laundrymats may not be handy at the end of the week & if you are on a budget or not familiar with sizing in France, you may have a difficult time finding what you need if you run across a tight schedule.  Have a variety of outfits handy that can be interchanged.  A jacket comes in handy for cool or rainy evenings.  A dress, &/or skirt & blouse should be included for any formal occasions that you may have.  Pants, shorts, &/or t-shirts (or polo shirts) for all other times.  Then, don't forget the bathing suit if you are lucky enough to go swimming.

The empty suitcase is for all the goodies you will be bringing back to all of your friends at home!!  Have fun! Good luck!

  4. First of its no different then if you were packing for yourself which you are unless your packing for in which you should ask her, but the number 1 thing is that you don't bring anything sexual that she doesn't say bring don't even bring it up because she going to think your a pig if you bring it up in a conversation or if you just pack it.

Just pack the basics you know shoes shirts everything you wear now when you aren't going on a trip then she can't be mad at at you for being yourself unless she is controlling and wants you to be someone different in that case the marry her or just be what she wants you to be.

  5. things that coordinate, and dont wrinkle easily, also that roll very small so that many items can be packed in your full case. I also would take a second to bring stuff home in. Yes to skirts, pants, t-shirts, a nice dress, good fitting underwear, a swim suit, make sure  to take everything you will need..as in tampons and a roll of charmin..there toliet paper is like sand paper, have a fun trip and see as much as you can..but try to get out in the country that are not tourist traps..that is an awesome way to get to know the people...get meals at out door markets to save money etc.

  6. pack 5 beach things

2 cold weather things (nights can be chilly, anywhere you go)

    5 hot weather things

one dressed up thing...(with one dressed up shoe thing)

    3 "comfy" things

    3 sleep things

and make sure you pack things that you can use in "layers"

so you can peel of clothing, or put on clothing as needed

it should all fit in one LARGE suitcase.... if you fold and store it tight

  7. Take outfits and coordinates that can be taken from day to night and mixed and matched with each other.  Most of the time this can be accomplished with accessories.

Capri's and a t shirt for day can be dressed up with a sweater over it (if chilly);  a bolder necklace, bracelet, earrings....ect.; and a little dressier sandal; not to mention a touch up on hair and makeup;scarf....you get the point.

Take some comfortable walking shoes, casual shoes, and a little dressier shoe.

I roll mine up as small I can and then use the airtight bags to store them in.  In my experience with airport security they do a pretty good job at getting all the air back out so the suitcase will shut. :)

    Have a great trip!

  8. I think you're only asking about clothes, so I'll stick with that.

1st, not only is France superhot in July but air conditioning is practically nonexistent. Even places that advertise AC keep it at 'tolerably warm' and not 'refreshingly cool.' So you'll want to pack lightweight clothes in breathable, natural fibers, like cotton. If you are spending time in cooler places, like the Alps, you'll want to bring warmer things, too. But nights do not get much cooler in July; at most, I think you'll need a light sweater or better, a light (waterproof) jacket. You'll also want sunglasses and hat for the sun and an umbrella or jacket for flashstorms.

Stylewise, the French are less casual than Americans (I'm assuming you're American). They don't wear athletic shoes or athletic-looking gear, Juicy Couture-type jogging suits, leggings by themselves, flip-flops, baseball caps, t-shirts, shirts with funny sayings, shirts that advertise anything (a product, a sports team). They also wear alot less "s**y" stuff you see in the States - microskirts, cleavage-baring tops - even for clubbing. If you want to blend in, consider doing the same. Skirts are great in July, pants I'd recommend only the light cotton kind that lets your skin breathe, or as your cooler weather or nighttime backup. I'd leave shorts at home because they don't translate well to nighttime. T-shirts, I mentioned, but if you have a nice Banana Republic type "t-shirt", it's fine.

If you want to bring accessories, consider how comfortable they'll be in hot weather. Jewelry can feel gross and absorb heat, neck scarves will suffocate you. OTOH a light scarf over the shoulders can protect your shoulders from the sun, double as a sarong on the beach. And you don't want to lose anything of value.

I mentioned that French don't wear athletic shoes, but if this is the only thing your feet are comfortable in, you should bring these. Otherwise, yes, bring very comfy walking shoes, and some nicer but still comfy shoes for the evening, as chances are you'll be walking around then, too.

Last note, French don't wear bright colors, even in the summer. They tend to wear lots of gray, khaki, brown, and muted shades of more colorful colors. This doesn't mean you have to, too, but thought I'd let you know. :)

  9. a few casual outfits...not too casual, try to get some sandals with heels, and a few out-to-dinner outfts...and no, i don't mean jeans...
